Linksys Wirless-G Router

Description of the problem:
There are some compatibility problems with Wireless "G" Routers and Lucent - Orinoco Wireless "B" Bridges. These compatibility problems cause the bridge to look as though it is properly associated to the tower, when it is not. This improper association causes the user to experience a loss of Internet connectivity and assume the Internet is "down", when it is NOT. We have seen this happen with Linksys, Netgear, and D-Link routers, and suspect it is a problem with all Wireless-G Routers, regardless of brand.
Symptoms:
When the bridge loses connection with our tower, even briefly, it should automatically re-associate with our tower, but in some cases it will re-associate to the router. You will see all 3 green lights on, but have no Internet connectivity.
Possible Causes/Fixes:
This happens particularly if the router is set to "Mixed" mode. It also happens more often when the select routers are set to "Turbo" mode.
One way to help this situation is to set your router away from "Mixed" mode, and switch it to Wireless-B mode. Also, unplugging the AC power from the bridge, and plugging it back in seems to allow it to re-associate with our tower. If these solutions do not solve the problem, we may be able to replace your current bridge.
Other Home Wireless Router Configuration Suggestions/Tips:
Another particular problem is having the router in "broadcast" mode. When in this mode, anyone with a wireless Network Interface Card can automatically associate to your router. This is a security issue for your home network, and a potential bandwidth problem for our entire network. We strongly recommend changing your SSID away from the default that the router has set for it, and not allowing your router to automatically broadcast the SSID for incoming requests.
