DNS Setup For Windows 98
What follows is a step by step explanation of setting up your computer for a TCP/IP Ethernet connection to the RFCNet high speed network.
First, locate your list of IP (Internet Protocol) addresses that was mailed to you after installation. This will be the range of valid IP addresses for the machines you have in your LAN (local area network) which will be used in the following steps.
1. Click on the Start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen.

2. Choose Settings.
3. Choose Control Panel.

4. Double-click on Network.

5. Double-click TCP/IP (if you see more than one, use the one that is affiliated with your Ethernet adaptor) from the list of components.
6. You'll be on the IP Address page. Click on Specify an IP address.

7. In the IP Address box, enter this PC's unique address.
8. For Subnet Mask, enter the value we've provided.
9. Click on the DNS Configuration tab.

10. Click the Enable DNS checkbox.
11. Enter your computer's unique name in the Host text box.
12. Enter rfcnet.com in the Domain text box.
13. Enter 206.173.120.3, in the box under DNS Server Search Order.
14. Click the Add button.
15. Enter 206.173.120.11, in the same box.
16. Click the Add button.
17. Ignore the Domain Suffix Search Order boxes; Click on Gateway.
18. Under New Gateway, enter the Gateway IP address. Then click Add.
